YEE HA! JOIN THE HILARIOUS HOEDOWN AND RAISE MONEY FOR RNID Cowboys and cowgirls from the Trimdon Co-operative food store are turning County Durham into the wild Wild West for one night only, by holding a fantastic Wild West event, to help raise funds for deafness and hearing loss charity RNID. The Wild West themed charity event is being held on the 22 May 2009 from 7pm onwards at The Labour Club in Trimdon. Tickets cost £10 each, and the price includes a slap up meal of pie and peas. There will also be a variety of fun filled activities throughout the evening, including a disco, bucking bronco, casino and bingo. All money raised will go towards RNID’s vital ‘Hear to Help’ service. Hear to Help trains volunteers, many of whom have a hearing loss and understand the impact it can have on someone’s life, to provide support to hearing aid users in their local communities. RNID trained volunteers show people how to maintain and get the best performance from their hearing aids, as well as providing vital advice on hearing equipment for the home so that they can live a full and active life. With the support of its members and customers, The Co-operative aims to raise more than £2 million in 2009 for RNID, with the goal of transforming Hear to Help into a national service reaching over 18,000 people each year. All money collected at local stores will directly benefit people who are deaf or hard of hearing in the region. Stephen Nelson, Trimdon Co-operative Food Store Manager, said: “We are supporting RNID as our charity of the year to help change the world for the nine million people who are deaf or hard of hearing in the UK. The Hear to Help project reduces isolation for people with a hearing loss by providing practical support and, with the help of our members and customers, we are determined to raise as much money as possible for this worthwhile cause.” Tickets are selling out fast, so to buy yours, or to donate to this worthwhile cause pop into the Trimdon Co-operative Food Store, Church Road, Trimdon, TS29 6PY. RNID is proud to be The Co-operative Charity of the Year for 2009. As part of the partnership we are encouraging everyone to check their hearing - go to www.rnid.org.uk/hearingmatters .
